Physical effects

Gun shot wounds are usually very messy! Guns are very powerful weapons and once fired a bullet can easily break any skin, tissue and bone that gets in its way. It is very unlikely that a bullet will be clean and sterile. This means bacteria and germs enter your body when the bullet does.

Many victims of gun crime die as a result of their injuries. If you survive it is likely that your injuries will take a long time to heal. Your injuries will vary depending on the type of weapons used and how close you were to the offender when they decided to shoot you. Like knife crime it is important to remember the horrible effect that this type of injury can have internally inside your body.
